BIO
Alessio Garlaschelli, filmmaker. Milano.

Before university, I dreamed of becoming a drummer: rhythm was my first form of expression. Then I discovered cinema, and I knew right away that no other language would let me tell stories about the world with such freedom.
I've worked in audiovisual production since 2015. I started as an assistant, grew into the role of assistant director, and found my calling as a filmmaker. I love following a project through every stage, from the initial creative idea to post-production, building a story that works as a whole, where every choice, from the framing to the edit, moves in the same direction.
In 2020, I directed my first medium-length film in Peru, about traditional Quechua medicine. It was selected at international festivals and won Best Featurette at the Valencia Indie Film Festival.
In 2024, I completed my first feature-length documentary, Wansati – As flores do mundo, the story of three 17-year-old Mozambican girls who, through sport, find social and gender emancipation. The film won Visioni dal Mondo – International Documentary Festival as Best Italian Feature, and took part in IDFA Industry in Amsterdam and other major international documentary festivals.
Alongside documentaries, I create commercial, design, and tourism & travel projects, bringing the same attentive eye for people and places to the communication of brands and destinations.
